Eye Health and Diseases
Our eyes , one of our 5 sensory organs, connects us to life by enabling us to
see the beauties of the world. It has a very important place in learning and
perception. Age, genetic diseases and external factors may adversely affect our
eye health. However, with today's technology, various treatment methods have
been developed in eye diseases. Many eye diseases can be treated with robotic
methods.
The most important factor in eye diseases is early diagnosis. Therefore, any
discomfort should not be ignored and periodic eye checks should be performed.
Eye Diseases and Treatments
Cataract Disease
There are special lenses in the structure of our eyes. Due to external factors,
these lenses become transparent at later ages and cataract occurs. Blur occurs
in all the objects we see. Advanced cataracts cannot distinguish between objects.
The success rate of cataract surgery with surgical interventions is high.
Eye pressure
This disease, known as eye pressure, is called as glaucoma in medical language.
Glaucoma, a disease that can be diagnosed with early diagnosis and early
treatment, is serious enough to cause loss of vision. For this reason, regular
eye examination should be performed every year.
Glaucoma treatment is done in three ways:
Medication
Surgical treatment
The treatment of eye tension is performed by laser treatment.
Corneal Tapering
The disease, known as keratoconus, is caused by progressive thinning or tapering
of the transparent layer, the cornea, which is located in the upper layer of the
eye.
The disease usually seen in adolescence is usually noticed at the age of 20
years. The treatment of this disease, which is more common with the aging of the
world population, is carried out regularly by specialist physicians.
First of all, it is treated with glasses. Intraocular ring treatment is an
effective method. It is not seen from the outside but can be removed if
requested by the patient. There is no harm in stopping it for life.
Crosslinking treatment of corneal molecules can be prevented by tapering.
Another treatment method is corneal transplantation. The operation is performed
with general anesthesia and the patient does not feel any pain. Finally, eye
scratching is also among the methods that prevent the corneal sharpening.
Retinitis Pigmentoza (Chicken Black)
This disease, known as chicken black, occurs more frequently in consanguineous
marriages.
A chip is placed in the patient's vision center and treated with the help of a
special spectacle on which the camera is located.
Excimer Laser (Eye Dyeing)
Myopia, astigmant and hyperopia such as eye defects are used to remove the
surgical method. Laser therapy is a FDA approved safe treatment technology.
Your doctor can determine if your eyes are suitable for the excimer laser. In
order to determine compliance, full eye examination and some further tests
should be performed.
With excimer laser treatment, almost all defects can be eliminated. It can be
discharged on the same day after treatment.
Who Can't Treat Excimer Laser?
People who have had eye surgery before,
Keratoconus patients,
Pregnant women,
Breastfeeding women,
Patients with rheumatic diseases,
Those with diabetes,
Macular Degeneration (Yellowhead Disease):
Retinal is an eye disease occurring in the center. It usually occurs in people
over the age of 50 and may cause vision problems at advanced levels. Since 2000,
photodynamic therapy has been improved and it has been eliminated with drug
treatment.
Eye Transplant
In fact, the eye is not corneal transplantation and the cornea layer is taken
from a dead patient is treated by transplanting. During corneal transplantation,
healthy parts of the eye were not damaged and no tissue rejection was observed
in the patient who had previously been transplanted during tissue transfer.
It can be said that 99% of these treatments respond positively.
